Every weekend night at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach is nuts, but Saturday was particularly so.
In one corner of the resort, controversial NFL superstar Michael Vick was getting hitched before 300 family members, friends and football colleagues.
And in the other, 3,000 people invaded the resort’s sprawling pool area for the the radio website iHeartRadio’s Ultimate Pool Party: Private concerts by Gym Class Heroes, Maroon 5 and Flo Rida!
“It didn’t look that crowded,” resort publicist Ana Lanzas said when asked whether the evening was the busiest in resort’s rich history.
Vick, who’s as well known for serving prison time for a dogfighting scandal married longtime fiancee Kijafa Frink in a lavish ceremony.
Because dog lovers haven’t forgotten, Gossip Extra was told, security alone set back the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback $300,000!
The vibe at the pre-wedding cocktail party was relaxed, with hookahs on the tables and R&B music blaring in the background.
Waiters passed around fruity pink drinks to the gathering of guests, which included running back LeSean McCoy and head coach Andy Reid, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, free agent receiver Plaxico Burress and retired New Orleans Saint Aaron Brooks.
The groom’s party went with a tropical theme, pairing tuxes with pink and purple shirts, according to a gift shop employee.
For the ceremony and reception, off-duty Miami Beach police stationed outside the ballroom collected cameras and cellphones from guests. The decor featured lots of white candles, white flowers and blinged out chandeliers.
According to a server, the menu was as down-home as the 32-year-old Vick himself: lobster and oysters and shrimp, but also chicken and waffles!
Courtney Vick, Vick’s sister, tweeted: “Getting done up with the glam team, feeling like a Kardashian.”
The pool party, meanwhile, was broadcast live on the websites of Clear Channel radio stations throughout the country.
BLESSED EVENT, PART DEUX
While many TV watchers would rather forget The Catalina, the CW’s reality series that showcased the staff of Miami Beach’s Catalina Hotel and ended Tuesday night, one of its standout cast members will never forget!
Filming apparently got Morgan More, one of the show’s stars, in the mood to get pregnant. With the executive producer’s baby!
“We’ve known each other for three years, and it wasn’t planned,” said More, confirming she’s 16 weeks along and the baby daddy is show exec Jorge Moreno. “It just happened.”
More is the hotel’s food director, and she’s mainly known for yelling at her staff and, yes, hotel guests. Her “You’re just gonna die a moron!” to a staffer will remain her shining moment on the show.
“I was really hormonal during production,” she said. “I knew I was pregnant, but I didn’t tell anybody.”
